Coopered into massive fermentation tanks, these ancient boards held gallons of Cabernet, Zinfandel, and Pinot soaking up tannins, minerals, and the memory of every harvest season.

These tanks are rare, and the retirement of a major winery production house is additionally rare. This is a project of epic proportion, and potentially the largest decommissioning of redwood tanks in California history. The decommissioning of these 137 tanks will yield half a million board feet of clear heart redwood staves, heads and floors.We recover, mill, and restore these irreplaceable redwood staves, giving them a second life as flooring, paneling, furniture, and architectural millwork.
